After being interviewed for the Charlotte Bobcats head coaching job, and being turned away by archnemesis/friend Michael Jordan and the Bobcats front office. Ewing has set his sites on greener pastures, nowhere more greener than Portland.
The Blazers have previously spoken to Hall of Fame coaches Phil Jackson and Jerry Sloan, but they both turned down the opportunity. While Kaleb Canales holds down his interim status, the Blazers are also reportedly going to meet with assistant coaches Steve Clifford (Orlando), Adrian Griffin (Chicago), David Joerger (Memphis), Mike Malone (Golden State) and Brian Shaw (Indiana).
Ewing is set to meet with the Portland front office as they are in need of a coach after what happened this past season with ex-Knicks Jamal Crawford and ex-Knick/new Knick again Raymond Felton. Nate Mcmillan was forced out toward the end of the season because of his newly acquired players which then bolted in free agency at season’s end. The Blazers began to dismantle their team by trading Wallace to Nets and letting Felton Crawford and Batum walk in free agency.
Ewing can potentially be walking in to a hazardous situation or a clean slate, depends on how you see it. Good luck Pat-trick Ew-ing!!!!!
