It has been predicted that Lin would re-sign with the Knicks this summer especially after the Bird Rights appeal was dropped. Now, ESPN’s Chris Broussard seems to think that this might not be the case. There are teams, including the Raptors, that can offer Lin a “backloaded” contract. Lin can make $5 million the first 2 seasons and up to $15 million the last 2 seasons. The 4 year deal can be worth up to $40 million dollars. If the Knicks match the offer, this will put them well over the cap and would have to pay back a handsome amount in luxury taxes. Let’s hope both sides can figure it out to have Lin return in a Knicks uniform.
